Data Research for Digital PR

I help Digital PR teams develop ideas and evidence they can pitch.

Research findings have appeared in ABC News, Waste Management Review and a Seven West Media story published by The West Australian and PerthNow.

I connect your client's work to a wider public question. I test what the data supports and deliver findings, charts and story angles with documented sources and limitations.

In their words

What agency leaders say.

Feedback from the people I have worked with on agency research.

“Samiran supported our data team on several Digital PR projects. His data for an El Niño summer campaign landed coverage across seven Seven West Media titles, including The West Australian and PerthNow. His work is clean, easy to use and well received by our team and journalists. Very knowledgeable, highly recommend.”

I support the research; agency teams lead media outreach and campaign delivery.

Choose your starting point

Start with the research decision in front of you.

You may have a client brief but no research idea yet. Or an idea that needs testing. I can help at either stage. I can also take the study from the first question to the final handover.

Choose the starting point you need or combine the services in one study. Each sample is a short excerpt of a real review or study. The feasibility sample comes from a test brief.

All prices are in US dollars. I agree a fixed fee with you based on the question, how you will use the findings and the work involved. Any applicable taxes or external data costs are itemised before you commit. Media outreach and final campaign design are outside the research scope. Changes to the agreed scope are quoted before additional work begins.

Need capacity across several briefs?
After a first project, we can agree a block of research time for upcoming briefs, with clear priorities, outputs and review rounds.

Selected public examples

From research idea to usable findings.

In the Otto Media Group examples, I developed the study concept and led the research and analysis. StudioHawk designed its campaign idea and method; my job was to make sure it would hold up. The agencies and their clients led campaign and publication decisions.

The Aquatots, Independent Steel and StudioHawk case studies are shared with permission. Other client work remains confidential unless permission to share it is agreed.

Before running anything, I checked the data. Gaps in the climate records would have quietly removed some coastal towns from a national ranking. I raised it on the first day, proposed a fix the team approved and wrote down every decision so another analyst could rebuild the result.

The West Australian and PerthNow published the ranking in September 2026.

How we work together

From client context to usable evidence.

You work directly with me throughout the research. We agree the question, outputs, schedule and review points before work begins.

  1. Share the context

Tell me what the client does, who the audience is, the geography, deadline and any question or data you already have. I connect it to a public question and check whether the data can answer it.

  2. Agree a paid scope

We agree the first assignment, fee and outputs. If we do not yet know whether the sources can answer the question, we start with a feasibility review.

  3. Build and review the evidence

I source, clean and check the data, test comparisons and build charts, using an original index when the evidence warrants it. We then review the findings together and pick the story angles the data supports.

  4. Use the handover

You receive the agreed findings, charts, working data, method notes and supported pitch angles for your team to develop and use.

I lead the research

I develop the research concept where needed. I make and document the analytical decisions and prepare the agreed findings and supporting files.

Your agency leads the campaign

Your team manages the client, campaign strategy, design, media lists, pitching and campaign reporting. We agree how the research is branded and credited.

Working details

Questions before we scope the research.

Bring the client brief, an early idea or a research question. We agree what to cover, what you need back and when.

What kinds of data work are a good fit?

Most of my work uses public data: bringing sources together, comparing places and building rankings or indices. If you have client data or a survey brief, send the details. We can agree the work involved, including any survey design or analysis.

Can you deliver under our agency’s brand?

Yes. We agree branding, access to working files and attribution before the project begins. The Aquatots, Independent Steel and StudioHawk case studies are shared with permission. Other client work remains confidential unless permission to share it is agreed. Your team keeps the client relationship and leads campaign decisions.

Which time zones do you work with?

I work with Australian agencies and can also work UK hours. Kolkata is 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind Sydney and Melbourne. It is 4.5 to 5.5 hours ahead of London. The exact gap depends on daylight saving. My working day overlaps with the Australian afternoon and the UK morning. I reply to project emails within one business day in your time zone.

How do invoicing and payment work?

I invoice in US dollars against the agreed fixed fee. You can pay by bank transfer or Wise. Payment terms are set out in the proposal before work begins.

How do you handle client confidentiality?

Briefs, client names and any data you share stay confidential. I use them only for the agreed project. I am happy to sign your NDA before you send a brief. Client work appears on this site only with permission.

Can you work alongside an internal research team?

Yes. I can help with a difficult analytical question, take on part of a study or support your team during a busy period. We agree how the files and findings will fit into your team's work.

What happens when the evidence changes the idea?

I explain what the data supports, where the original angle falls short and whether another direction is workable. We review the finding before your team develops the final story.

What about questions during journalist outreach?

We agree any research support needed during outreach as part of the scope. This may cover method explanations, checking statistical wording or additional breakdowns where the data supports them. Response windows, revisions and additional analysis are agreed in advance.

Is concept and feasibility work a paid project?

Yes. We agree a small scope and fee to develop or test a research idea and document a proceed, revise or stop decision. We can use an introductory conversation to see whether I can help. Checking sources and doing the analysis are paid work.

Can you handle the complete study?

Yes. Concept development, feasibility, analysis and any agreed ranking or index can form one study with one fixed proposal. A new composite index is priced for its specific method and data. The individual starting prices are not added together automatically. If we begin with a separate feasibility review, the follow-on proposal builds on that work without charging again for completed deliverables.

How are cost and timing agreed?

Share the question, intended use and deadline. Feasibility reviews are delivered within 48 hours of receiving the agreed brief and required inputs. I confirm a fixed fee, deliverables, schedule and review points before work starts; full-study schedules are agreed individually. The prices cover the focused scopes described above; additional sources, markets, methodological development or support may require a larger proposal. If feasibility is uncertain, we can begin with a paid review before committing to the full study.

Telling a lie with data is easy. So is telling one by mistake. I help Digital PR teams make sure a story holds before it reaches a journalist.

For 18 years I managed a water-testing laboratory for public-health programmes in West Bengal. A wrong result there could mean a family kept drinking unsafe water. Since then I have worked as a data analyst. I came to Digital PR in 2025.
